Ardleigh Green & Havering-Atte-Bower Cricket Club is a friendly club which caters for players of all standards.

We formed in March 2019 when Ardleigh Green CC and Havering-Atte-Bower CC clubs merged. As a result we now have three grounds based around Havering, one in Harold Hill and two in Havering- Atte- Bower. AGHABCC strives to maintain the rich histories of its clubs.

We run both Senior and Colts sides, we currently run 5 Saturday adult teams, 4 of which are based in the Hamro Foundation Essex league and a friendly team. We boast of two teams on Sunday, one league and one friendly. At Colts level we have built strong development plans to enable each colt to reach their full potential. We are driven to push them to be successful in senior cricket. We hope to run U9's, U11's, U13's sides in our first year, impressive right! We are proud to participate in the ECB's 'All Stars Cricket' programme that focuses on encouraging youngsters aged 5-8 to take up the game. We have made great strides in getting girls into cricket, we hope that continues.

The Club has obtained Club Mark Status, we are a Havering Schools Link Club as well as a Focus Club. The club has qualified coaches at both ECB Level 1 & 2 and we carry out DBS checks.

Our History

History of ArdLeigh Green CC

Founded in 1941 by players not completing military service as most teams had disbanded due to the war, Hornchurch A Group Wardens was formed. The teams consisted of Stan Billinglsey, Arthur Hambleton, Reg Milner and the local baker, Percy Mager. Percey Mager provided £20 to buy gear, the team played on the Harold Wood Ground and the Great Eastern Railway Ground. The club was helped along the way by The Pelling and The Lang families. The Lang cup was donated to the club by Mrs lang when her husband passed away. In 1946 the club was renamed to Ardleigh Green Cricket Club and were permanently based at Harold Wood Recreation Ground. Geoff Spanton become first ever play to score more than 1000 in the season. Stan F Billingsley who passed in 1984 know as "Mr Ardleigh Green" in the early years taking up many roles within the club. In 1954 John Coyne joined shortly followed by a young promising all rounder Ray Barker, who tragically died on his way to work, a trophy was named in honour of this great loss. In 1971 the club said its farewells to Harold Wood Recreational Ground and made home at Petersfield Avenue, with the view to go from strength to strength as growth had been restricted at their former home. In 1973 the club was accepted into the Essex County League and narrowly missed out of the double shortly after but went on to win the double in 2007. Over the years the club house was developed, in the 80's a garage was built to host ground equipment and in the 00's containers were installed to allow the club to covert the garage into a dressing room and umpires room. The Iconic wall that stood strong for many years was removed. A failed merger with Navestock unfortunately saw the loss of a players but the club bounced back to strengthen before electing to merge with Havering-Atte-Bower  in January 2019 to form a super club,

History of Havering-Atte-Bower CC
Havering-Atte-Bower Cricket Club was founded circa 1860 by villagers who wanted to play cricket on the village green. Lady Pemberton Barnes bequeathed the land at Broxhill Road to the villagers just prior to her death in 1944. For the first hundred years of the Club's existence nothing much changed until the 1960's when there was a move to try and re-locate the Club to Tysea Hill in Stapleford Abbotts. To safeguard the villager's rights, a lease was drawn up in 1962 to allow the villagers to play cricket at the Broxhill Road site for as long as they wanted. The Church, which became one of the Trustees of the Estate, reluctantly allowed Sunday cricket for the first time in 1961 and in 1975 League cricket came to the village. Since then, the Club has retained their village atmosphere whilst progressing within the League set-up in Essex. The present pavilion was erected in 1964 and extended in 1977.

In 2010 the Club celebrated its 150th anniversary and raised over £1,600 for the British Heart Foundation and St. Frances Hospice in Havering-Atte-Bower. Since then an annual British Heart Foundation game has been played to continue fundraising and has been supplemented by an annual Memorial game to celebrate the lives of former members no longer with us.
