On the 21st April Havering-atte-Bower opened its Saturday season with the Andrew Dent memorial cup match between the presidents eleven captained by the club captain Anthony Downes against the chairman’s eleven captained by Mick Houghton. The chairman’s eleven opened the batting with Ian Greenwood (5) and Ryan Hurley (52 ret) Greenwood fell to the bowling of Tom Hine in the first over (5 for 1) Ryan was joined at the crease by Gary Baker (0) who was lbw to Andy Wilson (20 for 2). Sindhu (42) joined Ryan and they put on 89 for the next wicket when Sindhu was bowled by James Walker Ossie (16) bowled by Dan Beechey followed by Reece Beechey (24) bowled by David Kevin Bath (0) bowled Tom Hine Steve Summerville (2no) Mick Houghton (0no) 165 for 7.

The game was followed by a quiz night which was well attended the winning team being Clemence Hoar Cummings the accountancy firm that Andrew worked for. The day raised £150 for the heart foundation and £500 for the club.
Andrews family would like to thank all those who played, joined in the quiz or just turned up on the day we raised much needed funds for the heart foundation and cricket club.
